FRIENDSHIP CARDS
What are good cards for long-distance friends?
It can be tricky to keep in touch when there are many miles between you, but touching base with a card is a great way to reach out. Some people like to send a “hello” a “thinking of you” card, a compliment or even something you’ll both find funny and that reminds you of the times you’ve shared. There are some ideas in our blog for ways that you can reach out to friends you might not have seen in a while, or that you don’t see as often as you’d like.
What are good cards to send to a friend having a hard time?
A thinking of you card or an encouragement card can be a small gesture of support that means a lot to someone who needs it. Sending something complimentary or funny can also be a nice way to send a little pick me up to the person.
JUST TO SAY CARDS
What is a just because or just to say card?
A “just because” or “just to say” card often doesn’t need a reason to be sent – some see it as a random act of kindness, a way to touch base or to bring a smile to someone’s face. It can also let someone know you’re thinking of them, or that you miss them. Some people like to send a humour card just because the joke reminds them of the recipient or a time they’ve shared.
What’s the difference between just to say and thinking of you?
A thinking of you card can be more of a support send in difficult times, but not exclusively. It can literally be for someone who has been on your mind and you maybe haven’t spoken to in a while.
WEDDING AND ANNIVERSARY CARDS
When should you give a wedding card?
If you’re attending a wedding, there’s often a basket, a table or a card box somewhere you can put the card for the happy couple while you all enjoy the day. If you just want to send a card to the newlyweds to wish a congratulations or send them best wishes, people tend to send a couple of weeks before the wedding or a couple of weeks after.
CONGRATULATIONS AND ENCOURAGEMENT CARDS
When should you send an encouragement or support card?
These types of sends can be for people working towards something (i.e. an exam or an achievement) or for people having a tricky or hard time who need a bit of a boost, inspiration and to know that someone supports and believes in them.
NEW BABY
Should I write a new baby card to the baby or to the parents?
It’s common for people to include a welcome message for the baby, but also to congratulate the parents on their new arrival.
How long after a baby is born should you send a card?
Most people send a new baby card in the first month following their arrival, but it’s fine to wait a little longer if you’d rather give it in person.
